Oh cerasum pulcherrimum!

…Phew, is this a technique tutorial or rather an oddity…?

But I’m already way too far gone in my head, so let’s start from the beginning. Four years ago we celebrated an important wedding anniversary of my parents in a close family circle ;). As the weather was wonderful, we were able to celebrate outside in the garden. And since it was summer, there were – cherries!

I love cherries. They are one of my favourite fruits. Apart from the fact that they simply taste delicious, you don’t usually end up with sticky fingers or a stained shirt afterwards. The pulp separates easily from the stone and you don’t have to remove it from the interdental spaces with dental floss afterwards.
You can also organise fun games with cherries – cherry billiards, cherry boule (or boccia) or cherry stone spitting, for example, a discipline in which I am quite talented. 😀

My niece, my nephew and my cousin made the mistake of challenging me.

Really???
You are challenging ME???
MMMMMUUUUHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

And so we drew a line in the grass from which to shoot – er, spit – chose our weapons (a large pot of cherries was just waiting to be utilised in a goal-oriented way) and stepped up one after the other.

After the deed was done, I told them my secret: It’s all about the technique!

…. Of course we know exactly the importance of good technique when practising our favourite sport – it not only leads to better results, but also ensures that we can continue to train healthily for a very long time.

In this particular case, you must not shoot the cherry stone through your lips, but form a little roll with your tongue, like a blowpipe, and place the stone inside. Now brace your abs firmly so that your back remains straight, lean your upper body slightly backwards (we are training the front of the thighs, the hip flexors and the entire torso muscles) and then push forwards again in an explosive but controlled manner. At the highest point of this movement, the stone must be skilfully catapulted high and far out through the tongue-blowpipe tube by exhaling sharply.

Today I found out that there are actually several international contests and world championships in cherry pit spitting.

In Düren, Germany, the men’s record (set in 2017) is an incredible 22.52 metres , the women’s record is 16.01 metres (also from 2017 – I wonder if the harvest in that particular year produced particularly suitable pits…). This of course puts my winning distance of an estimated 7-8 metres far in the shade – I certainly don’t need to compete with such a miserable result.

But I’m only an amateur, not a professional athlete. … At least not in this discipline. 😀

Hah, I’d like to see how they’d handle themselves at Attack.
MMMMMUUUUHAHAHAHAHAHA FIBEEEEEEER!!!
